April 22: 8th Annual 43rd Ward Summer Safety Festival

Chicago’s 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley and Children’s Memorial Hospital are gearing up for the 8th Annual 43rd Ward Summer Safety Fest, Saturday, June 28, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Park High School. The event is free.

Mayor Daley’s Bicycle Ambassadors will be fitting bike helmets and the first 150 children will receive free bike helmets. The Summer Safety Fest will also feature live entertainment by Old Town School of Folk Music, Emerald City Theater Company and A-Z Entertainment. All children who attend will receive a goodie bag filled with toys and treats from local businesses.

There will be free food and drink provided and games for the children to play. Also, there will be a free raffle, prizes including a child’s bicycle donated by Village Cycle to be raffled off at the end of the event.

May 17: Arthritis Walk 2008

The Arthritis Walk is the Arthritis Foundation’s signature event to raise awareness and funds to fight arthritis. Registration is free and each person who fundraises $100 or more will receive an official Arthritis Walk t-shirt. Walkers are encouraged to form fundraising teams and walk together in honor of someone they know who is affected by arthritis. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and step-off is at 10 a.m. There will be refreshments, live entertainment, kids’ games, face painting, a free health fair and a raffle. Dogs are welcome at the event.
